CATECHISM CLASSES

These classes are specifically designed to prepare those who wish to become Orthodox Christians.

It aims to introduce you to the basics of the Orthodox Christian Faith and way of life.

If you are 18 or older and have never been baptised, this 2-month Catechism Course will prepare you. Once you have completed the course - and if you wish to go the next step - you may make arrangements at your local Greek Orthodox Parish to be received into the Church through the Sacraments of Holy Baptism and Chrismation.

If you have already been baptised in a Christian denomination which the Orthodox Church acknowledges (e.g. Roman Catholic, Anglican, Uniting, etc.) but you now wish to become an Orthodox Christian, this Catechism Course will also prepare you. At the completion of the course - and if you wish to go the next step - you may make arrangements to be received into the Orthodox Church through the Sacrament of Holy Chrismation (or Confirmation).

The Orthodox Christian Catechism Classes in Victoria are conducted in 4 different locations - Bentleigh, Coburg, South Melbourne and Templestowe.

You may select the venue that suits you best. The Course is usually held at each location several times a year and classes are held on weekday evenings.

To apply for this Course, complete this Application Form carefully, attach photocopies of all relevant documents requested, according to your circumstances, and deliver it to the ARCH (Note: this office is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm - excluding Public Holidays & major Feast Days).

After receiving your Application Form, the Catechism Coordinator will contact you to acknowledge receipt of your application and to inform you of the details of the next Course that will commence at your preferred location.

There are no fees for this Course - it is a ministry of the Church reaching out to prepare, inform and catechise its members. Consequently, you are also requested to bring along your Greek Orthodox fiancée, spouse, prospective Godparent or friend who will support you on this journey.
